Place of residence Schleswig-Holstein

Children under 6 always travel free of charge on hvv services. For children older than 6, there are  reduced-price single/day tickets or school passes. These can already be used if children have not yet started school.

The hvv offers special tickets, for instance the hvv Deutschlandticket, for all school students  in regular primary or secondary education at a public school. The type of ticket offered, the price and the rules on its use depend on where you live. 

Also for trainees we have summarized the basic information about school student tickets in Schleswig-Holstein here:

N.B.: 

  • The ticket will be issued in all these administrative districts via your school.
  • In these administrative districts, these tickets will be paid for by the district council (Kreis) and the school authorities provided that there is a certain minimum distance (stipulated by the district council concerned) between your school and where you live. You can get information on the details of this from your local district council. 
  • For all those who live closer to their school than this minimum distance, there is alternatively the Deutschland-Schulticket (valid all over Germany) or all-year and monthly season tickets with a smaller area of validity. 

Eligible school students with their main home address in Kreis Herzogtum Lauenburg, Kreis Herzogtum Lauenburg, Kreis Pinneberg, Kreis Segeberg, Kreis Steinburg or Kreis Stormarn, attending certain types of school* and do not get a free ticket from their local district council (Kreis), can benefit from the new product “Deutschland-Schulticket”

Your new discounted Deutschland-Schulticket  can only be ordered online (in German). Please have a digital photo ready when ordering. If you have any questions, please contact the team directly. 

Post-daily refunds 2024

Eligible students who purchased a hvv Germany ticket at the regular price from September 2024 to December 2024 inclusive can apply for a subsequent refund of partial costs for this transition period.

Tips on reimbursement:

  • You can get a pro rata refund of € 20 per month from your district council. 
  • This reimbursement will only be available if you apply for it and will be paid out retroactively by your district council, probably from January 2025. 
  • Your district council will provide information about this via schools, media and its website.

Good to know

Do you want to take a trip to somewhere outside the area your ticket is valid for, or do you regularly go to training sessions somewhere further away? Then we have various solutions for you:

  • 1 journey: Upgrade 1st class for regional trains RB/RE per journey  3.50 € (valid in fare rings A-F).
  • 1 day: Upgrade 1st class for regional trains RB/RE per day 6.00 € (valid in fare rings A-F).
  • 1 month: Upgrade 1st class for regional trains RB/RE for a whole month  51.50 €  (valid on the entire hvv network)

For a journey outside the area which your season ticket is valid, you will need a supplementary ticket:

  • 1 journey  3.10 €  
  • 1 journey (child)  1.50 €  
  • Additional top-up ticket to your season ticket Weekend +: With this, you can take along 1 other person of any age and 3 children (6-14) on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays as well as on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve  free of charge all day on the entire hvv network up to 3 am the following morning. The additional ticket is valid for 1 calendar month and costs  15.00 € .

With the SchülerPlusTicket you can extend the area your existing monthly school pass is valid for individually. Just show your ticket at one of our service centres and book the area of validity you want on top for that month.  

Season tickets are not transferable.
